Business Counseling

One-to-one Business counseling: QEDC offers private and free business consultations to anyone in the pre-startup, startup, and operating stages of running a business. Over 35 years, QEDC has counseled over 1000 individuals. In these sessions, topics covered may include writing a business plan, registering a business, applying for licenses and permits, creating financial projections, assessing business feasibility, creating marketing strategies, and more. Entrepreneurship Assistance Center (EAC)

The EAC is a New York State funded program through which pre-startups, startups and existing businesses can receive one-to-one business coaching on a variety of problems, partake in a 10-week business training course, and be connected with a virtual mentor. Made in Queens (MiQ)

MiQ is an initiative to promote local Queens’ artisans and craft businesses. As part of this program, you get to partake in local Queens community events to market and sell your products. You receive offers, opportunities, resourceful information via email. A MIQ member will also be promoted through the QEDC’s social media platforms.  You are part of a close-knit community of locals who are proud to further the mission of promoting Queens as an up-and-coming borough. StartUP! Competition

The StartUP! Competition is a 4-month program for Queens-based startup founders and small business entrepreneurs who are at the early stages of developing their businesses. The competition is open to Queens residents, and offers a $10,000 cash prize to four winners, one winner from each of the four categories: technology, food, community, and sustainability. The STARTUP competition has existed for over 15 years and has granted over $400,000 to emerging Queens businesses. Many of these businesses have used their grant funds to build their successful business in Queens. To learn more, click here.
